An easily-configured, battery-powered IoT button with cloud-native connectivity, designed for a variety of IoT applications – including Facility Management, Elderly Monitoring, Asset Monitoring, and Industrial Maintenance.
A single click or press sends an event over the built-in LTE-M connection to the Soracom IoT platform endpoints. From there, the only limitation is your imagination.
Based on the code that you deploy to your cloud of choice, the Button can be used for any purpose. With a simple push, users can order products and services (like ride hailing or meal ordering), start or stop a home automation task, generate an alert, provide feedback, and more.
While the possibilities are virtually endless, here are a few example use cases that the Soracom IoT Button has been designed to support:
Incorporate the Soracom LTE-M Button into your own IoT use cases immediately on registration with a device that includes both connectivity and cloud integration straight out of the box.
Users can configure the button to trigger serverless functions on popular cloud services such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
After registering the device a user can simply select a cloud service, apply a piece of code and associate a button click to trigger any logic deployed in the cloud.
“The magic of the Soracom LTE-M Button is that it's a very simple device, but its applications are limited only by the user's imagination”
Adding Soracom's powerful platform capabilities lets the LTE-M button serve advanced cloud based IoT systems using serverless cloud functions, data lakes, machine learning services and more.

The battery life of the IoT Button depends on how often the button is pressed, how much time there is between each button push, and the quality of the two AA batteries used in the device. In our testing, we found that ten pushes per day (spread evenly throughout the day) would provide around 185 days of battery life (half a year). That increased to around 338 days when the button was pressed 5 times per day.
We have created an easy-to-follow startup guide for activation the Button in Soracom. You can read our in-depth developer docs here.
The IoT Button transmits data over cellular LTE-M networks, so, therefore, needs to be in range of one of these to work as expected. Soracom currently provides LTE-M coverage in 36 countries including the UK, France, Germany, the US, Canada, and Spain. You can view our complete list of coverage here.
Full technical specifications for the button are listed on this page, right below this FAQ section.
