SORACOM IoT communication platform introduces support for Google Cloud Platform

Enables collaboration with “Google Cloud IoT Core” and “Google Cloud Pub/Sub”.

Tokyo – Soracom Inc., provider of the leading cloud-native communication platform for the Internet of Things, will support direct integration with Google Cloud Platform™ (GCP™ ) beginning June 15th, 2017.

The SORACOM IoT communication platform enables secure, affordable, easy-to-use data communication for IoT/M2M. SORACOM provides a comprehensive set of services for management of communication and secure data transmission over cellular and/or LoRaWAN networks, supported by a telecommunications core built on the cloud. Customers using SORACOM can implement IoT systems with no minimum device count or long-term commitments and enjoy full access to the Web console and API for management, secure data transmission, and advanced cloud capability. From design and development to final deployment, the SORACOM platform makes every phase of IoT system building more efficient.

As of June 15, 2017, Google Cloud IoT Core and Google Cloud Pub/Sub will be accessible directly from within the SORACOM web console. This integration will allow users to aggregate and deliver the large data sets generated from their IoT devices to GCP services including Google Cloud Dataflow, Google BigQuery, Google Cloud Machine Learning Engine for management and analysis.

Google Cloud IoT Core will be connected using SORACOM Beam, which performs transfer support by applying authentication, encryption, protocol conversion, etc. to raw data transmitted from IoT devices. SORACOM Beam will support the JWT authentication required for Google Cloud IoT Core” and allow communication with MQTT over TLS.

Google Cloud Pub/Sub will be connected using the Soracom Funnel cloud resource adapter. To ensure smooth GCP integration, device authentication information is stored securely in the cloud and provided to Google Cloud Pub/Sub at the time of data transmission. This ensures that devices can connect quickly and securely to GCP without having to store authentication information.
