Back in May, when we announced lower pricing for Soracom data service in the US and Canada, we noted that it wasn’t the first time we’d reduced prices, and we promised that it wouldn’t be the last. We’re serious about offering the most secure, simple, and affordable connectivity available for IoT, and we’re happy to announce today that thanks to our growing customer base we get to reduce costs for many users while expanding our global service.
We’re also always seeking better, faster coverage in more places around the world. In addition to the price reductions we’re also happy to say that we now offer service with more carriers, in more countries, with an expanded footprint for LTE IoT connectivity.
Lower cost for cellular IoT
Beginning September 1, users in Canada will see an immediate decrease of over 50% in per-megabyte cost for IoT data. We’re really excited about the IoT projects coming out of Canada lately — we’ve seen everything from vehicle management and real estate to AgTech and herd management. We’re glad to be able to make IoT connectivity easier than ever for our Canadian partners.
Users in Mexico will also see a significant reduction in IoT data cost, along with customers in Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Guernsey, Jersey, Montenegro, Netherlands, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, and Sweden.
Note: Pricing updates will be applied automatically to active Soracom SIMs using Soracom Plan01s. Detailed pricing information is always available on the Soracom Pricing page.
Expanded IoT connectivity
In addition to reducing connectivity costs, we’re also always looking for opportunities to improve our IoT data service.
We know that the ability to maximize stable coverage area by making multiple networks available is important to many of our users. Worldwide, we now offer service on over 200 mobile networks.
We’ve also expanded LTE coverage. Earlier this year, we announced availability of LTE IoT data in the United States, Canada, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Finland, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Singapore, and Turkey. That list has now expanded to include Albania, Estonia, Mexico, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
And last but not least, while we already offer coverage in most countries, there are a few more we can now add to the list: Dominican Republic, French Guiana, Greenland, Iran, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, and Martinique, welcome to Soracom! It’s our pleasure to make building connected experiences and capabilities easier and more affordable for everyone, and we’re looking forward to what we can build together.
